What is health data? What is it used for? And why is that necessary? The awareness of data reuse is low in the Netherlands. And yet it is so important that we all understand why the reuse of data about us is important to keep our healthcare good and affordable.

The website GegevensVerbeterenLevens.nl has been online since July 11, 2024. This website informs citizens and patients about (re)use of health data through texts, videos and animations. It explains what health data is, what it is used for and why it is useful. Attention is also paid to safety, privacy and control in the Netherlands. . The website gegevensverbeterenlevens.nl is an initiative of the Health-RI foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Affairs (EZ), the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) and various field parties.
Who is the website intended for?
The website is intended for citizens and patients who want to know more about (re)use of health data. The content is written in an accessible way at language level B1. In a later phase, the website will be further developed for other target groups, including healthcare providers and researchers.
