Data stewardship e-learning

About

The goal of this e-learning is to provide foundational knowledge on data stewardship, covering all phases of the data life cycle and the requirements for creating FAIR research data. This ensures research can be replicated and data can be reused. You need this knowledge before you can write a DMP.  Subjects that will be addressed include:

• What is data stewardship and the data life cycle and why are they important?
• What are the FAIR principles and how can you apply them to your research?
• Which activities do you need to execute for proper data stewardship?
• Which steps can you take towards FAIRer data?

Learning Objectives

At the end of the e-learning Data Stewardship participants will be able to:

• Identify the phases in the data life cycle and the corresponding data stewardship activities
• Recognize the commonly used terms in data stewardship
• Find support and information on data stewardship within and outside the LUMC
• Explain why data stewardship and FAIR data are important
• Apply data stewardship to their own situation for every stage of the data life cycle, such as using suitable storage options, documenting their own research data, security and privacy protection, sharing and reusing data
• Identify which steps they need to take to make their own research more FAIR

Program

This course includes a 3–4 hour e-learning module with interactive elements. You can pause the e-learning at any time and resume later.
