    About

Ldot is a web-based tool designed to monitor research logistics and monitor the progress of your research project. It supports the research workflow by indicating which actions need to be performed for which research topics and at what time. Ldot can be configured to display this information as e-mail notifications, an action list or in a graphical calendar.

Ldot is specifically designed for protocols that require secure storage of personal data and is recommended for studies with a large number of participants, more complex or longitudinal planning and multicentre studies.

    • The web application stores only personal and logistical data and no study data.
    • No patient data are stored in Ldot (data can be stored in another EDC tool).
    • Ldot complies with European data protection legislation, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

    FAQ

Ldot has a wide range of possibilities to support researchers in carrying out their research protocol. The backbone of these functionalities is the research participant management module, which allows you to safely and securely store the information you need. Ldot’s extensive role management ensures that all members of the research team only have access to the appropriate information.

Ldot is a modular system that can be tailored to your specific needs. Some functionalities are:

    • Create, manage and maintain research participant data.
    • Define steps in your study workflow, so Ldot tells you what you have to do for which participant at what moment in time.
    • Gather electronic consent from your participants (using the Ldot eConsent module)
Managing the invitation and reminder cycles of surveys, using integrations with data collection tools like Castor, Qualtrics and REDCap.
    • Enable participants to sign up for a study using a public link.
    • Randomise participants.
    • Send automated emails and/ or text messages (SMS).
    • Generate printable letters containing relevant information (participant’s name, address, appointment dates, etc.)
    • Schedule appointments or let participant schedule their own appointment based on your own time slots.
    • Keep track of your overall study progress and the progress of individual participants.
    • Keep extensive audit trails of all changes.
    • Integrate with your own (data collection) tools via a secure API.

Ldot is well equipped to store key tables.

Yes, Ldot has been designed to perfectly support multi-center studies. Ldot’s extensive role-management ensures that research staff only gain access to the appropriate information. The extensive workflow functionality ensures that all participating centres adhere to the same protocol while the study coordinator keeps an high level overview about the study progress.

Ldot is a modular system. The costs vary depending on the functionalities that are used within your study. Since Ldot is developed and maintained within Maastricht University, costs are relatively low compared to similar packages. Please contact Ldot through ldot-memic@maastrichtuniversity.nl for a tailored quote.

It is important to mention that Ldot only stores participant data and data regarding study progress. It is of great essence to store this type of data separately from research data. Ldot therefore has extensive possibilities to exchange data with the most common data collection tools.

Ldot and the Ldot database are hosted within the Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure ,which adheres to all relevant laws and research guidelines.

Ldot users can contact their study coordinator for questions regarding Ldot. Study coordinators can contact their Ldot-contact for support.
